WHO ARE WE?
Theatre Works has been offering training in Bury and Bolton since 2012, from teachers with a wealth of experience in television and London’s West End.
Students can participate in school productions, musicals, showcases, workshops and take acting examinations under the syllabus of Trinity College London. They have been winners in the Musical Theatre International’s Junior Theatre Festival Europe. Past plays have included Macbeth, Lord of The Flies, and Fast. They have also appeared in Bolton’s Got Talent with Peter Kay and participated in the National Theatre’s Connections festival in Manchester.
Theatre Works have appeared at many prestigious venues, including Blackpool Opera House, Sadler’s Wells Theatre, Shaftesbury Theatre, The Lowry and The Palace Theatre, Manchester.
Students go on to train at schools such as Arts Ed London, Performers College and LIPA with many forging a professional career in the arts as actors, singers, directors, choreographers or teachers.

All of our staff are actively working in the industry offering professional industry led, up to date and modern training. Our teachers are passionate and highly experienced drama workshop creators and facilitators with over 20 years experience working with young people taking a collaborative approach and inspiring and encouraging work of high quality in a nurturing and safe environment.

EMMA MATTHEWS
EMMA MATTHEWS trained at Manchester Metropolitan University (BA Hons Acting)
Her acting credits include Until I Kill You, The Bay, No Offence, Trying Again (Sky TV) Coronation St, Emmerdale, Shameless, Doctors, Casualty and BBC's Prisoners Wives playing regular character Vicki. Theatre credits include National tour and West end cast of David Walliams Gangsta Granny (which received an Oliver Award Nomination) National tour and West End cast of David Walliams Billionaire Boy playing Mrs Trafe (Oliver award Nominated) Bolton Octagon, Various West End Theatres and Oldham Coliseum where Emma received a Manchester Theatre Awards nomination for her role of Sylvia in Stepping Out.
Emma is an experienced director, was associate director at The Drayton Court Theatre in London and Artistic Director of Factory Arts in Cheshire, directing over 50 productions with young people and receiving a Special Services to the Arts award for her work with young people from Cheshire Council.
Emma has a grown up daughter who is training to be an actor and shares her home with her husband and her two woofers Judy and Lottie

LAUREN DENTON
LAUREN BATEMAN trained at The Arden School of Theatre (BA Hons Acting)
Lauren has over 20 years teaching experience in the performing arts at numerous primary schools and theatre schools across the region.
Having trained in dance from the age of 2 she then went on to work at Disneyland as a dancer and various characters as well as numerous West End Venues. She has also performed around the Europe as singer/dancer for Thomas Cook.
Lauren is a highly experienced dance practitioner, leading dance classes with numerous organisations with adults with additional needs and disabilities.
Lauren annually produces the Lancashire Dance Festival with primary and secondary schools
Lauren lives with her husband and her beautiful little boy William
Visiting Professionals
Theatre Works regularly works with visiting professionals from the industry from acting teachers, TV acting workshops, casting directors and choreographers
